Peace be upon you.
**1. Why are Rohingya Muslims being pushed into Buddhist Myanmar?**
Despite evidence of the Rohingyas' long-time presence in Rakhine State, Myanmar's government has persistently referred to them as illegal migrants from Bangladesh and India. According to Al Jazeera, in 1948 when Myanmar gained independence from Britain, Rohingyas were registered as part of the Burmese nation and were officially recognized as citizens as an ethnic minority.
However, in August 2017, the Myanmar military carried out a brutal crackdown on Rohingya communities, resulting in the murder of thousands and the displacement of over 700,000 individuals to neighboring Bangladesh. This action further deepened the humanitarian crisis and strained the already fragile relationship between the Rohingya and the state.
**2. When they can easily be relocated in 56 Muslim nations?**
Rich Muslim countries, which make up the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), have taken limited action on the Rohingya issue. This raises questions about the responsibility and capacity of Muslim nations to support their oppressed brethren, a scenario that is highly problematic given past failures and the unique cultural and political contexts involved.
**The Inability of OIC: 50 Years of Failure**
The OIC, with its 57 member states, has been in existence for over five decades but has shown significant shortcomings in addressing situations like the Rohingya crisis. The organization's inability to effectively advocate for the rights and protection of Muslim communities worldwide, including the Rohingya, is a serious concern and a challenge that must be addressed.
**'Pushed'... Are You High?**
Accusing countries of "pushing" Rohingya Muslims out of Myanmar is not only inaccurate but also highly stigmatizing. As part of Myanmar, the Rohingya have a legitimate claim to their homeland and should be treated as fellow citizens. The idea that Christians or other minorities should be relocated to countries with large Christian populations is not only ethically unacceptable but also legally and practically infeasible, given the autonomy and sovereignty of nations.
**DivElement**
Arakan or Rakhine is the motherland of the Rohingya, just as Iraq is to Iraqis and Saudi Arabia to Saudis. It would be absurd to suggest relocating such groups to other lands. This is only a privilege available to British people, who can spread across the globe.
**Which Muslim Countries are Ready to Accept the Rohingya?**
Despite the need for assistance, it is crucial to understand that sending the Rohingya to 56 Muslim nations would not solve the underlying issues but could exacerbate the situation. A return to their origins is a rational solution, necessitating peaceful coexistence and integration within Myanmar.
Only there, within the context of a Myanmar where they can remain as law-abiding citizens, can they find enduring peace and dignity. The international community, including the OIC, must focus on providing sanctuary and support in a manner that respects their cultural, legal, and human rights.
