Personal Insights: My Journey at Quora World Meetup 2018 in Kathmandu and Beyond

My Exciting Experience at Quora World Meetup 2018 in Kathmandu

The First Time Around

This was my inaugural Quora Meetup experience, and needless to say, I was incredibly excited. Arriving at the venue in Perth, Australia, at 1:00 PM, I found Janet already in attendance. Janet's warm and welcoming demeanor immediately put me at ease, and we dove into animated conversation. As we waited for others to join, I volunteered to help Janet design a Quora Meetup banner, an endeavor that, despite my less-than-stellar handwriting, turned out better than expected.

Clive, Bronislaw, Caroline, and Alexandra arrived shortly thereafter, and we continued chatting, exchanging stories, and building connections. However, my excitement was dampened by the looming realization of how much I had yet to learn, as I saw myself surrounded by an accomplished and knowledgeable group of individuals.

There is a saying, ‘If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.’ This meetup felt like a journey of enlightenment through the wisdom of this diverse community. My only regret was not arriving earlier to fully immerse myself in the conversation.

Past and Future Meets

The Quora Meetup in Portland, Oregon, was equally memorable, albeit a tad intimidating. It was my maiden testimonial of a Quora meetup, and I arrived when most attendees were already leaving. My status on Quora being rather unknown, interacting with seasoned writers and influencers filled me with a sense of awe. Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the meetup and look forward to the next one.

I was particularly impressed by the venue, which was perfectly suitable for such an engaging event. I was also thrilled to engage with authors I deeply admire, a truly enriching experience.

A special thank you to Stephanie V for organizing a fantastic event. My pledge is to make it to meetings early in the future, as reliability certainly adds to the enjoyment of these gatherings.

Other Global Gatherings

Across different regions, Quora World Meetups have been an incredible way to engage with fellow Quorans and forge new connections. In Mumbai, this was my first World Meetup. Held on 24th June 2018, at the Springboard at Ackruti Trade Centre Andheri, our encounter was both educational and unforgettable.

One of the highlights of the Mumbai meetup was the opportunity to interact with Gautam Shewakramani, a seasoned Quora veteran. He patiently addressed our questions, explaining Quora metrics and providing invaluable tips on enhancing writing on the platform. The session gave us an insider’s view into the technical world of Quora, complete with detailed explanations on how metrics like views and upvotes function.

The event also featured the 5 Minutes of Fame session, where Quorans read and explained their answers, sharing diverse experiences and insights. We also got to capture memorable moments through photographs and selfies. Altogether, this meetup was a wonderful experience, and I eagerly anticipate more such gatherings in the future.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Quora World Meetups offer more than just a casual meet; they serve as catalysts for growth, learning, and community. These events transform the often solitary experience of contributing to a platform like Quora into a vibrant, interactive celebration. It’s these meetups that really emphasize the power of the Quora community and the content it generates.
