Exploring the Ram Van Gaman Path: Pilgrimage Routes and Development Projects
Lord Rama, an important figure in Hindu mythology, traveled through numerous places during his exile from Ayodhya. To commemorate this journey, the Indian government has initiated the Ram Van Gaman Path project. This project aims to develop an associated pilgrimage route involving several key locations in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. As per the latest updates, 12 significant locations have been identified along the path. Lord Rama's Journey and Pilgrimage Sites
According to research, Lord Rama traveled through at least 75 places in Chhattisgarh during his exile and stayed at 51 locations for some time. In the first phase, eight of these locations that fall on forested routes have been selected for development as tourist spots. These locations include:
tSitamadi-Harchaika in Koriya district tRamgarh in Surguja district tShivrinarayan in Janjgir-Champa district tTurturiya of Balodabazar-Bhatapara district tChandkhuri of Raipur district tRajim of Gariaband district tSihava Sapt Rishi Ashram in Dhamtari district tJagdalpur in Bastar districtA four-member team will survey these eight proposed spots, with the development of necessary facilities such as approach roads, signages, tourist facility centers, Vedic villages, water supply, toilets, restaurants, and electricity. The project will be initiated at the Mata Kaushalya Mandir in Chandkhuri village of Arang Tehsil in the Raipur district.
Government and Financial Support
The state government plans to allocate a budget for this project in the near future and may seek financial assistance from the Union tourism ministry.
