Can I Visit Bhutan in February 2021?
Dear Travel Enthusiast,
The world, including Bhutan, is currently facing a significant global health crisis. As of 7th March 2020, Bhutan placed a strict entry ban on tourists into the country, a measure aimed at protecting its population and managing the spread of the coronavirus. This ban has not yet been lifted, and as of January 2021, there is still no concrete decision regarding the reopening to tourists.
Current Status and Potential Changes
The situation regarding the reopening of Bhutan to tourists is largely contingent upon the management of the pandemic by India, Bhutan's neighbor. There have been no official announcements or news from Bhutanese Airlines regarding when they would resume operations. As of April 2021, only confirmed news is that Druk Airlines (KB) has started accepting bookings from travelers.
Advice for Travel Enthusiasts
Given the ongoing pandemic, it is highly advised to stay home and practice social distancing. If you are passionate about traveling to Bhutan, the current situation is not the optimal time. The coronavirus situation continues to evolve, with daily increases in cases worldwide. Please stay safe and wait for better times to explore the beauty of Bhutan.
